What the assessment contains

A three-week, fixed-scope measurement of architecture-related cost and schedule exposure, and a ranked view of what to fund. Everything a buyer needs to evaluate the engagement is on this page.

What you receive

  • Architecture and coupling map. Where the dependencies concentrate and which boundaries carry the risk.
  • Cost and schedule exposure. Expressed as a range, with the assumptions the answer depends on.
  • Sensitivity analysis. Which assumptions move the number, and by how much.
  • Evidence confidence record. How far each finding is supported, and where it is not.
  • Ranked remediation portfolio. Every item ordered by exposure retired per engineering day.
  • Walkthrough with your team. A working session on the findings and what they imply.

How an engagement runs

  1. Frame the decision. A 30 minute scoping call establishes the decision in front of you, the boundary in scope, and whether a defensible assessment is possible.
  2. Establish the evidence. Interface specifications, architecture decision records, dependency and build metadata, defect and change history, release records.
  3. Measure the exposure. Structural coupling is classified and converted into cost and schedule exposure as a range.
  4. Rank the interventions. Findings become a portfolio sequenced by exposure retired per engineering day.
  5. Hand over the baseline. Evidence, assumptions and measures transfer to your team.
  6. Remeasure, optionally. Architecture Radar repeats the measurement annually.

Stages one to five are the three-week assessment. Stage six is a separate, optional engagement.

Evidence, scope and terms

  • Source code is optional. The assessment reads interfaces, decision records and change history. Where source access helps, we say so, and we can work without it.
  • Standard engagement size. One programme of up to about twenty modules. Larger estates are scoped separately.
  • What moves the fee. How many modules are in scope, whether source verification is required, and whether certification-regime scoring applies. Fixed scope and fixed fee, quoted after the call. The scoping call itself is free.
  • Material handling. Nothing you send is used to train any model or referenced in other engagements. Retention is on your terms. See the privacy notice.
  • If records are thin. We establish what can be supported, widen the confidence range where it belongs, and identify the evidence that would narrow it. If no defensible assessment is possible, we say so before any paid work begins.

Where ZOYA fits

The method quantifies cost and schedule exposure only. Performance, reliability, safety and mission outcomes stay outside it. The validation population came from complex engineering programmes, and how far the results generalise beyond it is an open question, addressed in the methodology brief.

Questions that come up first

Do you need our source code? Usually not. The assessment works from interfaces, decision records, dependency metadata and change history. If source access would materially narrow the range, we will say so.

What if our documentation is incomplete? That is itself a finding. We measure what the available evidence supports and widen the range where it does not, rather than presenting false precision.

Will you quote for the remediation afterwards? No. We do no implementation work. That constraint is what allows the report to recommend against funding something.

Is this a certification activity? No. We score against regimes such as DO-178C, AS9100, MIL-STD-882, ISO 26262 and IEC 62304. Accreditation stays with your DER, auditor or safety assessor. See regulated programs.

How much of our time does it take? A scoping call, access to existing records, and a small number of interviews. There is no preparation to do before the call.
